Built for the businesses big software forgets
Booking platforms today were built for hair salons with 12 chairs or corporate consultants billing £400/hr. Independent businesses — barbers, trainers, photographers, coaches — are still stuck on WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, and chasing payments. Bookr is for them.
Why we built this
We kept hearing the same story from independent operators we knew. Someone slides into the DMs at 11pm asking "you free Friday?" — then there's a back-and-forth about times, then a maybe, then they ghost, then they show up two hours late, then they ask if they can pay you next week. Every single booking turns into admin.
The tools meant to fix this were either built for enterprise — full of features nobody asked for, priced at £100+ per month — or they were free tools that looked like they were last updated in 2014. Neither fits a one-person business that takes 20 bookings a week and just wants the customer to pick a slot, pay, and turn up.
The reason now is the right time is simple. Everyone already pays for everything with their phone. Stripe made taking real card payments online a 10-minute job. Customers don't think twice about clicking a link and paying a deposit. The pieces are there — what's missing is something that puts them together for the people running the show on their own.
What we believe
- Independent businesses deserve software that fits them, not enterprise tools watered down.
- Bookings should pay upfront — your time has value.
- Customers don't need another app — one link should be enough.
- The price should match the size of your business.
